SLOWER RHYTHMS
If I wanted
to catch the slower rhythms
From the middle runs of the stream
I would need to wade in the shallows
Where the fry are starting to team
But by way
of incidentals
After they analysed the beat
They found that two to four seconds
Was a line with natural feet
And this
was universally so
With most lines averaging three
Or so said Turner and Poppel
In nineteen eighty three
So if I
wanted to catch the slower rhythms
I would need to climb higher than two
As my line curled with mazy motion
Above the streams round Xanadu
From my
backcast to my forward throw
I would need to be aiming for four
And gently bring my line to fish
Several rod lengths from the shore
